Fatti ad Arte VIII ed.

From 4 October to 3 November 2024

Excellent craftsmanship returns to the historic buildings of Biella Piazzo

From 4 to 6 October 2024, Fatti ad Arte, the event dedicated to High Craftsmanship and Artistic Crafts, returns to the rooms of the historic homes of Biella Piazzo.

This year Palazzo Gromo Losa will also be added to Palazzo Ferrero and Palazzo La Marmora.
This year there will be more than 30 Master Craftsmen from all over Italy, who will exhibit unique pieces of ceramics, glass, textiles, tailoring, footwear, goldsmith's arts, restoration, bookbinding, decoration, violin making and much more.
A very rich edition, which from this year pays particular attention to the digital crafts sector, which is proving to be increasingly attractive for the new generations, with employment opportunities, especially if integrated with new technologies.
For the entire duration of the event, visitors will be able to see the artisans at work, learn about the working processes that give rise to the artefacts and the beauty of the handmade creations in the workshop and purchase their products.
Furthermore, meetings between artisans and schools are planned thanks to dedicated events.
Fatti ad Arte will also host four exhibitions at Palazzo Gromo Losa, which will be open to the public from 4 October to 3 November.

The exhibitions at Palazzo Gromo Losa

A Thread of history

edited by Miniartextil

The exhibition celebrates the evolution and legacy of Miniartextil, one of the most prestigious international events dedicated to fiber art and small-format textiles. This retrospective offers the public a privileged view of the artistic and cultural journey that Miniartextil has undertaken over the years. Through a selection of significant works, the exhibition recounts the evolution of the techniques and aesthetics that characterized this event, highlighting the dialogue between tradition and innovation.
“A thread of history” not only celebrates the past, but is part of the context of Fatti ad Arte, an event that shares the same passion for the excellence of handmade products and the deep connection with the territory. In this context, the exhibition becomes a common thread that unites experiences, stories and visions, creating a bridge between the different forms of textile and artisanal art.

Primitive mystic

Elizabeth Aro edited
by Irene Finiguerra

The title of the exhibition borrows the style and verses of the American poet Mary Oliver (Primitivo americano, Einaudi, 2023). Elizabeth Aro's artistic research connects the natural and human world with the use of fine fabrics. In recent years she has produced a group of works focused on blood circulation and the way energy travels through the body, building a map detailing the structures behind vital flows. Her work offers an intuitive journey through the geography of emotions, finding poetic solutions of connection with the architectural environment in which she places her installations.

Short Range

Bipersonal by Sandra Baruzzi and Guglielmo Marthyn
curated by Cantiere delle arti Castellamonte

50 CLAY 3D printed objects are the heart of the exhibition. The protagonist of recent years, but born in the last century, is the new digital technology, which makes use of dedicated software for design and 3D printers capable of creating models and prototypes of considerable complexity and precision. A different design for new visions, a design that follows the changes taking place and which aims to improve functional and aesthetic qualities.

The art of the prototype

Giovanni Sacchi's artistic workshop
edited by Archivio Giovanni Sacchi

The homage to the Giovanni Sacchi Archive, at the MIL in Sesto San Giovanni, collects the materials once preserved in the laboratory of Giovanni Sacchi from Sesto, the best-known model maker for design and architecture in Italy, in Via Sirtori in Milan, which was closed in 1997, and donated in 1999 to the Municipality of Sesto San Giovanni. In particular, it provides a privileged point of view to delve into the process of designing and creating a product, using both historical reconstruction and the possibility of practical experimentation through participation in workshops and thematic meetings.
