From October 21st 2023 the city of Biella for will become a new point of reference for major art exhibitions in Italy.
The first exhibition that inaugurates the new course will be Banksy, Jago, TvBoy and other stories against the tide, which is created by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella in collaboration with the Municipality of Biella and Arthemisia and with the main sponsor Biver Banca – Gruppo Banca di Asti, and describes contemporaneity through the eyes of the most influential living artists.
The exhibition tells stories "against the tide”, it speaks of life and death, of social injustice, of wars, narrated now with a mocking spirit, now with lyrical mastery or even with a decisive aggressive tone. What is certain is that the message is never trivial or obvious, it shakes consciences and indignation, moves. As only great artists can do.
Banksy, Jago and TvBoy, some of the most famous artists in the world, will be just some of the protagonists of the Biella exhibition, which bring together international celebrities such as David LaChapelle, Takashi Murakami, Liu Bolin, Obey, Mr. Brainwash and many others for the first time.
The exhibition, curated by Piernicola Maria Di Iorio, consists of over 90 works including famous icons such as Banksy's Girl with Baloon or Obey's Hope, and takes place in two locations: Palazzo Gromo Losa and Palazzo Ferrero which are part of the Biella Piazzo cultural centre.
It will also be an opportunity for many visitors to get to know better the city of Biella, its verdant territory and its excellent gastronomic offer. Among the cultural realities of greatest interest are the Ricetto di Candelo, the Sanctuary of Oropa and the Oasi Zegna, an ideal destination to discover and explore large spaces, activities and innovative laboratories, and also the famous Cittadellarte - Pistoletto Foundation and the impressive industrial archeology heritage.

A visit to the exhibition is the ideal opportunity for a weekend to discover our territory. Industrial history and archeology, lots of nature just a few steps from the city with exceptional green areas such as the Burcina Park and the Zegna Oasis, the Sanctuary of Oropa and other spiritual places, the Ricetto di Candelo, a splendidly preserved medieval jewel, Lake Viverone and much more. Without forgetting the flavors of Piedmontese cuisine, our fine wines and the textile "know-how" that in 2019 earned Biella its entry into the Unesco Creative Cities network.
